Twilight Movie

I took off from work Friday so I can see "Twilight" with my sister. We are going again on Sunday with a co-worker of my sister.

You can find Part One here: x-merlin.livejournal.com/4009.html#cutid1 and Part Two here: x-merlin.livejournal.com/4126.html#cutid1.  Summary: Charlie makes a date with Draco to try to get important information out of him.  The date takes an expected and , yet, an unexpected turn.

Beta Reader

On the 24th, I applied at The Quidditch Pitch (a HP fanfic site) to become a Quidditch Assistant a.k.a. a beta reader. I had to complete three tests: a canon test, a Brit spelling and punctuation test, and a test passage. The canon test, which tested my knowledge of Harry Potter was, by far, the easiest. I went to the Lexicon two or three time to check on my spelling. Brit test was hard. The first part consisted of translating everyday American words into British and the second was your basic spelling and grammar test. Thank God for the internet. I found some useful websites for the future, including a website that compares American and British spelling and grammar. The test passage took me two days. I read through it bit by bit and it looks nothing like the original draft. I sent in the tests on the 27th and received a reply to today saying that they wish to invite onto The Quidditch Pitch staff! *jumps up and down in seat* I can't wait to start!

Changing the subject, my sister's goddaughter's third birthday is today. There is this Japanese Hibachi restaurant that she loves so we are going out to eat there to celebrate.

In less than two weeks, my three month probation at my new job will be over. I work at a company called Clinical Research Laboratories, Inc. in their Microbiology Dept. CRL operates as an independent contract laboratory providing a wide range of clinical safety and efficacy testing to the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. They conduct human clinical test procedures to determine the safety and efficacy of cosmetic, personal care, and OTC drug products. The three months have gone by really fast. There are only three other people who work in the lab: Barbara, Goesha, and Carol. Carol works only on Wednesdays and Thursdays so the rest of the week it is just Barbara, Goesha, and me. We all get along very well. I almost feel like I found the perfect job.

The Boardwalk

I went to Seaside Park yesterday with my friend Andrea and her daughter Alyssa and to Lacey Township to see her brother's new beach house. I haven't to Seaside since I was a little girl. We had a bite to eat on the boardwalk and then watched Alyssa go on a couple rides. It was freezing outside and looked like a ghosttown. Partly because it was the off season and because it was cold outside. When it is warmer I hope to go down again and spend some time in the arcades, too. I don't know why, but the arcades and the food always seem so much better on the boardwalk. It's a mystery.

Andrea's brother's house was a mess and had no furniture save a tv and table which the tv was on. The tv wasn't hooked up to the cable, yet since Joe just closed on the house on Friday. Needless to say we didn't stay long.

Feb. 26th, 2008

I interviewed at the Stem Cell Research Center at Rutgers University a couple weeks ago. Last Thursday I found out I did not receive the position. Since this has been like the tenth time that I have been turned down a job in the research area, I have decided that maybe going into research is not what I am supposed to do with my life. Instead, I am going back to college and become a nurse, which is what I originally wanted to do when I entered college. I had just applied to my county college a couple hours ago.

In exactly one week is my 24th birthday. I want Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii, some throw pillows to match my comforter set from Bed, Bath & Beyond, a long massage, and big bear hug!

Super Bowl XLII

I am ecstatic that the Giants won last night. I knew that they would. The Giants almost beat the Pats the last time the two played against each other. The commercial ads weren't all that spectacular. The Will Ferrell ad was hilarious though and was the only one. Justin Timberlake's and Budweiser's ads came in at a distant second. I watched a little bit of the half time show. I am not a Tom Petty fan.

House last night was also awesome. Mira Sorvino put in a great performance. I especially like the ending. I am still laughing over House's expression when we saw who Wilson's latest girlfriend was. I couldn't believe it either. It doesn't make sense.

Owls

I saw an owl this morning at work perched atop of a light post. At first I wasn't sure if it was an owl because I thought they only were awake at night, however I could think of no other bird that it could be. I wonder if there are some species of owls that are awake during the day and sleep at night?

Also, I am very excited about the new episode of House. The bit where House was talking to the daughter at the beginning of the episode was hilarious.

Go Giants!

I so excited that the Giants are going to the Super Bowl. I finally have a reason to watch the game other than to watch the commercials.

Also, I lost my voice over the weekend for reasons unbeknownst to me. Thankfully, it is finding its way back to me.

Yesterday Fun

I finished reading I Am Legend yesterday. It was ok. I had a hard time getting through it at times. Sometimes it caught my interest and other times it didn't. I still would like to see the movie.

I also got a facial yesterday. The facial left me feeling like a completely different person. I felt so refreshed and relaxed and rejuvenated.

My quest to beat Sims 2 Castaway is almost complete. All I have to is fish a shark. Who knows how long that will take.

Passions News

Passions last episode on NBC is on September 7th (this Friday). It will be moving to DIRECTV on ch. 101 and will start airing its first episode Monday Sept. 17th. When I first found this out, I was completely devastated because I cannot get DIRECTV. I thought that the only way I would be able to find out what was going on would be to find a website that would give a daily summary of the soap opera. However, I have just learned that www.nbc.com/Passions is going to be air Passions live at 2PM EST with an encore at 7PM EST Monday - Thursday for Passions fans, like me, who are unable to get DIRECTV. Also, there is going to be Passions marations every Saturday at 10AM EST which will air the entire week's episodes. Reading this on nbc.com/Passions really made my day.

Football

Today is Opening Day for Rutgers football. They are playing Buffalo tonight at 7PM on MSG. It should be an easy game for RU unless something goes seriously wrong. My dad says that anytime can at any given time. It doesn't matter how good a team is or a how bad a team is going into a game. The team that plays the best during the game is going to win.

My first

This is my first insanejournal post. With all the commotion on lj, its probably a good idea to have a back up journal.
